How Scores Are Calculated
Each of the eight risk categories is scored 1.0 to 10.0 based on four weighted factors assessed using a combination of AI analysis and human editorial judgment, drawing from 40+ verified sources across the political spectrum:
Severity (30%): How bad could this get at its realistic worst case? Probability (30%): How likely is escalation or continued disruption? Proximity (20%): How directly does this affect US households? Velocity (20%): How fast is the situation developing or changing?
The World Stability Index (0-100) is a weighted average of all eight category scores. If any single category exceeds 8.0, the master score has a floor of 60 to ensure a severe disruption in any one domain is not averaged away.
